Boss Mick McCarthy felt Manuel Almunia’s save from Luke Hyam’s second-half header changed the course of Town’s 3-1 defeat at Watford. The former Arsenal man tipped the midfielder’s header onto the bar two minutes before Gabriele Angella netted the Hornets’ second goal to put them back in front.

Town’s play-off hopes suffered a blow as they were beaten 3-1 at Watford. The Hornets, outsiders for the top six themselves, were ahead through Albert Riera at the break, but Anthony Wordsworth equalised five minutes after the restart, however, two goals in three minutes from Gabriel Angella and Lewis McGugan sealed the three points for the home side.

Skipper Luke Chambers netted the winning goal four minutes from time as play-off chasing Town beat Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at Portman Road to climb to seventh in the table. Daryl Murphy put the Blues in front just after the break, Chris Brown equalised for Rovers from the spot seven minutes from the end but Chambers struck the winner three minutes later.
